President & CEO
In today’s competitive administrative work world it is essential that we have a good work-personal life balance. But how do we do this? This is not an easy task. Jobs are demanding. By the time our commute is over, we come home drained of energy and completely exhausted. Career experts have given good advice on how to balance it all. Have a daily routine in place!
First, take a few minutes alone to decompress when you arrive home. Maybe you need to take a cool shower or even just change into comfortable clothes. These few minutes can allow your mind to relax and shift into personal time.
Next, sit down to a meal with your family or partner. This gives you a chance to talk and interact. It is also a great way to catch up on the day’s activities and stay in the loop. Furthermore, take this time to discuss upcoming weekend plans and arrangements.
After dinner, use this time to get yourself ready for work the next day. Take out your work outfit or organize your travel bag. Pack a homemade lunch or snack for the next day. Do not leave this until the morning. You run the risk of forgetting important details if you are stressed or running late.
Finally, have your night routine. Maybe it’s reading a bedtime story to the kids or watching a favorite television show with a partner or roommate. This is a signal to your brain that it is almost time to sleep. You will avoid the tossing and turning in bed if you are prepared to sleep.
When you follow a routine, it ensures that you will be connected to your home life. You will not feel like you are missing out. Work is important, but so is the human connection from family and friends, so be prepared to set that work-personal life balance!
