As a business owner or manager, it is very important to be prepared for the future. We all know there have been many changes in employment over the years, especially in the way we recruit, hire and employ. Candidates’ expectations have evolved. But what changes in 2018 can we look forward to in the recruiting and employment field?
One thing that is different is that video assessments will replace many in-person interviews. This increases availability and allows both employers and candidates to be more efficient with their time. Statistics show that video calls allow hiring managers to interview 12 percent more applicants. Therefore, positions are filled more quickly.
In addition, you will notice a rise in remote work. More employees will work remotely from home. This eliminates commuting costs for employees and the need for work-space from the companies. But what about productivity? Studies show that employees are just as reliable in getting assignments completed remotely as in a formal office environment.
Also, you will find more companies creating and promoting in-house wellness programs. These programs may be as simple as dressing casually on Fridays, or perhaps a day where employees can bring their well-behaved dogs to the office. Similarly, companies will encourage employees to mingle at an after work mixer.
Overall, there will be various changes in employment as the years roll by. As a hiring manager, you will discover many things will be done to enhance the employee experience. This starts from the moment the candidate applies through the time he or she is hired. Employees want clear lines of communication and a simple application process when applying for the job. They want to be notified when hiring decisions are made and want to know clearly what is expected of them.
